At Madhuban, we are fortunate to have the commitment and contributions of many members of the community. With the mindset of being the instruments of Bhagavan, we work together, using whatever talents He has blessed us with, to serve Him and His creation.
Leading the charge is our President and Founder, Shiva Maharaj whose passion is Seva in all its forms. ShivaJi leads Madhuban's volunteering, charity, networking and community investment initiatives, and partners with local and international organizations such as the Tarrant Area Food Bank, SEWA International, the Bhojpuri and Awadhi Association of North America (BAANA), and the Bhutanese Association of North Texas, among others. Co-founder, Tara Maharaj, leads the Satsangh and spiritual development pillars of Madhuban. Currently pursuing her DHS (Doctor of Hindu Studies) advanced degree, her emphasis is on understanding and passing along the timeless knowledge of our Shastras in a practical and relatable way to students of all ages, showing its eternal relevance to achieving the goals of humankind. She works to help decolonize some misinformed perceptions of Hinduism and its teachings by going back to the original source of our knowledge. She is the author of My Blue Prabhu - Legends of the Puranas, whose audience is children of all ages. This book aims at bring to life some of the beautiful Lilas of our Itihasa, providing valuable life lessons that resonate deeper with life experience. TaraJi is a people leader and Learning and Development expert who is passionate about elevating the quality of life for all those with whom she comes into contact.
Madhuban's Secretary, Shivanie Bissessar, supports the organization with research, networking and public relations. She is a multi-tasker within our mandir, acting as an activity coordinator, youth liaison, photographer and cook. In her professional life, ShivanieJi specializes in event management and education, and strives to broaden her impact by expanding her knowledge.
Madhuban Director, Teela Singh supports our success by coordinating our maha prasad preparation and distribution and takes a leadership role in many of our fundraising and charitable activities. As one of our primary Kirtaneers, she currently coordinates the Junior Kirtaneer and Mantra classes. In her professional life, TeelaJi is a long-term care nurse, where she is able to demonstrate her passion for bringing comfort and joy to the revered elders in our society.
Madhuban Director, Nandini Bissessar-Grant supports and leads the execution of Madhuban's classes, Satsanghs and other activities within the community. As a parent of young, proud Hindus herself, she adds valuable insights into our areas of focus, setting an example through her involvement and leadership. Professionally, NandiniJi is the Executive Director of Auxiliary Services at one of North Texas' most prestigious universities, helping to set the future generations up for success by advocating positive experiences to support their learning.
